MAS Says Adoption Blitz Was Successful

Louisville Metro Animal Services officials say citizens, rescue groups and foster volunteers have responded to their call for dog adoptions and no animals will have to be euthanized to ease overcrowding.Over the weekend, officials said that 80 dogs at the Manslick Road shelter would have to be adopted by the end of business today and were offering a discounted one-day adoption fee of nine dollars. By late afternoon, 75 of the shelter’s 150 dogs had been adopted and more were going through the process. MAS has also been dealing with three cases of canine distemper confirmed at the Manslick facility. Officials say they believe the virus has been contained.More information about pet adoption in Louisville is here.
