Mayor Looking For Compromise With FOP

Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson met with the head of the Fraternal Order of Police at 2:00 Tuesday .The Mayor has asked the FOP to cut about $1.3 million from its budget to help the city cope with a $20 million shortfall. Last week, the union rejected all of the Mayor’s offers. Abramson said cuts must be made, and Mayor’s spokesperson Chris Poynter says a compromise could be reached today.“One of the things that the FOP has said is they’re going to come in with some ideas about how to cost-cut, so the mayor’s looking forward to meeting with them and seeing what their ideas are,” he says.Poynter says an announcement from the Mayor and the FOP is expected later this week. After this meeting, Abramson will meet with the heads of other unions to discuss cuts.
