Presumptive Republican Presidential Nominee John McCain will be in Louisville Thursday.

McCain will speak at the annual National Rifle Association convention. NRA spokesperson Ashley Varner (VARN-nurr) says this year’s convention could be bigger than last year’s, which was in St. Louis and drew 60 thousand people.

“We anticipate that, if not more, this year, especially with it being a presidential election year,” she says. “Many people are excited, there’s lots of excitement coming forward.”

Also speaking at the convention will be former GOP presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney, former Bush Administration advisor Karl Rove and Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.

Varner says Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were not invited to speak. The convention will be May 16th through 19th.
