McConnell Confident He'll Be Re-elected Minority Leader

U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell says he's confident he'll win re-election to his post as the chamber's Minority Leader later this month despite GOP losses in Tuesday's election.McConnell told reporters in a Wednesday conference call that he expects to have "ovewhelming support" from his Republican colleagues for another term.He also pledged his cooperation for the speedy confirmation of President-elect Obama's cabinet nominees."If he presents, and I'm sure he will, qualified candidates for the cabinet and trying to get those cabinet positions confirmed as rapidly as possible, particularly in sensitive areas like defense and treasury, homeland security and the attorney general," McConnell said.McConnell defeated Democrat Bruce Lunsford Tuesday to win a fifth term in the U.S. Senate.
