Meeting Tomorrow to Discuss Vehicle Idling Restrictions

The first steps toward restrictions on vehicle idling in Louisville could take place tomorrow morning at the Air Pollution Control District, as a workgroup meets to discuss the issue. Director Art Williams says a number of cities have already instituted some sort of ban on vehicle idling."So there’s a very good set of role models out there throughout the country and we’re looking to adopt an appropriate and reasonable program that will helps us address this very important area of air pollution in our country," said Williams.Williams says vehicle idling pours toxic chemicals and particulates into the air. The agency’s goal is to have an idling ordinance passed by the end of the year.
