Metro Budget Cuts Possible

Budget cuts are looming for Louisville Metro Government. An announcement from the mayor about a budget shortfall is expected on Monday.Earlier this year the city faced a revenue shortage that was partially offset by freezes on hiring and travel. A spokesperson for the mayor’s office says the current deficit is worse.Louisville Metro Council Majority Caucus spokesperson Tony Hyatt says the mayor will discuss the budget with council leaders on Monday.“Usually the administration will say ‘Here is what we are looking at,’ meaning the projections that are coming with the numbers and what they collections will look like for all revenues, especially the occupational tax," says Hyatt. The mayor’s spokesperson says additional cuts are being considered and everything is on the table.
