Metro Council Redisctricting, Flooding in New Jersey: Today on Here and Now

1:06pm: Many East Coast communities continue to struggle in the wake of Hurricane Irene. Authorities in New Jersey have ordered evacuations in Paterson as the Passaic River has crested, causing extensive flooding. We'll get an update from Paterson reporter John Ensslin.1:12pm: We'll hear the story of the Freedom Summer of 1964, where both white and African-American workers worked with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee to register voters and open schools in African American communities in Mississippi. We’ll talk with Bruce Watson, author of "Freedom Summer: The Savage Season That Made Mississippi Burn and Made American A Democracy."1:35pm: Should the Metro Council redistricting process be more transparent? WFPL's Devin Katayama has been following the process and he'll let us know what he's found out so far about changes in Louisville's districts and their demographics.
