Metro Council To Consider Several Hot Button Resolutions

by Gabe BullardThe Louisville Metro Council will consider some hot button resolutions at its regular meeting Thursday. The body is poised to vote on a resolution requesting a partial refund and a discount on membership fees from the Kentucky League of Cities. It follows a state auditor's report that found extravagant spending within the organization. The council will also vote on a resolution that asks the state legislature to make the cold remedy pseudoephedrine prescription-only. The resolution is an effort to stop methamphetamine production, which requires the drug. The council is also likely to vote on a new ethics ordinance. A workgroup has spent months reconciling the differences between two different updates to the city's ethics code for government officers. A measure cleared its committee Wednesday afternoon. And, a resolution asking the Kentucky Public Service Commission to deny Louisville Gas and Electric's request for a rate increase will receive its first reading in the council Thursday.
