Metro Government Preparing For Snow

About 300 Metro Government employees will be working on snow removal and cleanup Wednesday and Thursday.Accumulations of three to five inches are expected overnight and Thursday across the region and as temperatures remain below freezing, crews will be on hand to salt and plow roads.Mayor's spokesperson Lindsay English says priority plowing will be on roads near schools, hospitals and major employers."There's usually as many as 3-4 trucks on each of those routes. It's a very intricate grid, covering a lot of miles, so everybody that's available is going to be out there," she says. "During this wintertime we have two shifts. So there's a day shift and then there's an overnight shift. So those workers will be on standby and just kind of monitoring the forecast."If Jefferson County Schools are closed Thursday, the city's H1N1 clinics will also be closed. If schools open late, the clinics will be open as planned. JCPS officials say a decision on school closings will be made at 4am Thursday.
