Moffett 'Money Bomb' Is a Dud

Money troubles continue for Republican gubernatorial candidate Phil Moffett after his two-day "money bomb" failed to reach its $300,000 goal. The Internet fundraiser ended Tuesday and garnered about $10,000 despite heavy promotion and prominence on the Louisville businessman's website. Hoping to spin the poor performance, the Moffett campaign has since denied setting such a high goal for the effort, but a request on their website did ask supporters to “Help us raise $300K!”Another message to supporters says: "With your help today we hope to double or even triple yesterday's efforts and to be well on our way to the $200K mark, the amount we need to raise by the beginning of May in order to win the Kentucky primary."Despite receiving several endorsements from the Tea Party, Moffett has struggled to raise money. Since announcing his candidacy last year, he has raise less than $100,000.Moffett faces state Senate President David Williams and Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw in the May 17 primary. Williams has reported more than $1 million raised. Holwsclaw hasn't filed any fund-raising figures yet.
