Republican congressional candidate Gary Moore had the most successful fundraising effort of the nine candidates seeking to replace Congressman Geoff Davis in Kentucky's Fourth Congressional District. In the first quarter, Moore, who is the Boone County Judge-Executive, raised $238,000, according to federal election finance records. The GOP primary is considered to be the main event in the district because it leans heavily Republican.Moore was only slightly ahead of Lewis County Judge-Executive Thomas Massie, who raised $233,000, but took out an $80,000 personal loan.Coming in third and also breaking the six-figure mark was state Rep. Alecia Webb-Edgington, R-Fort Wright, who garnered $116,000 from contributors.Oldham County developer Walt Schumm raised $29,000 and the three other Republican candidates did not have finance reports. On the Democratic side, William Adkins raised $1,780 in contributions and took out a $5,500 loan for his own campaign while Greg Frank did not have a report.
