More Kentucky Students Taking AP Courses

The number of Kentucky public high school students taking advanced placement, or AP, courses has more than doubled over the last ten years. That’s according to results released by the College Board Wednesday.Board Spokesperson Sue Landers says in the last decade, 12.2 percent of Kentucky’s high school seniors participated in the program, taking AP courses for college credit in various disciplines."There are 33 different AP subjects across all different disciplines math, science, English, social science and world languages," she said. The courses typically conclude with an AP exam. Half of the students who took the tests in Kentucky least year earned a passing grade on at least one exam. Indiana has a higher percentage of students enrolled in AP courses, but a slightly lower percentage of students passed the exams last year.
