Most of Kentucky Declared Major Disaster Area

Louisville and other local and state governments will get federal reimbursement for up to 75% of their ice storm-related costs. That’s because President Barack Obama has declared many Kentucky counties a major disaster area.Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson says the additional money helps an already cash-strapped city."The 75% plus the portion from the state could give us up to 85% of those dollars back, and our hope is that we’ll reach the 100-percent reimbursement," says Abramson.FEMA Acting Administrator Nancy Ward says the city and state can be reimbursed for costs incurred during and after the storm, such as debris pick-up.
