Mullen Speaks At American Legion Convention In Louisville

President Obama's top military advisor was in Louisville Tuesday to deliver an address and take part in ceremonies at the national American Legion Convention.

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Michael Mullen spent a significant portion of his twenty-minute speech talking about the war in Afghanistan. He said the nearly eight year old conflict is not just a military operation against Al Qaida and the Taliban, it's also a campaign to win the Afghans' confidence."They know that if they can make the Afghan people fear us more than they trust us, they have a better shot at the preeminence they seek," Mullen said. The American Legion Convention continues through Thursday. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will address delegates Wednesday.
