NCAA: Cards, Cats and Hoosiers Headed to Sweet Sixteen

The Louisville Cards are headed to the Sweet Sixteen of the men’s NCAA basketball tournament. U of L held off New Mexico 59-56 last night to advance to next week’s West Region semifinals in Phoenix.The Cards will face the winner of today’s Michigan State/St. Louis game.The Kentucky Wildcats will face the Indiana Hoosiers next week in the South Region semifinals in Atlanta.UK defeated Iowa State 87-71, while the Hoosiers got by Virginia Commonwealth 63-61.Indiana handed UK its only loss of the regular season with a buzzer-beater shot in December.Murray State was eliminated from the tournament yesterday by Marquette. In the women’s NCAA tournament, Louisville defeated Michigan State to advance to Monday’s second round game against Maryland. Kentucky defeated McNeese State and will face Green Bay on Monday.
