New Albany Further Considers Smoking Ban

It could this fall before the New Albany City Council votes on a smoking ban. Monday the council heard from about 80 citizens and business owners during a public hearing. The council didn’t vote on a measure at the meeting and councilman Stephen Price says they’re in no hurry to do so.“We don’t have any kind of date. It could be in a couple months," he says. "I don’t think it’ll be in the next meeting ‘cause they’ll probably set a committee up. It could be a month, two months, it’s hard to say.”Price believes the council will eventually pass anti-smoking legislation, but he’s not sure if they will favor a partial ban or a more comprehensive law that resembles the one currently in effect in Louisville.
