New Chief Justice To Continue Work in Racial Equity

Kentucky Supreme Court Chief Justice Joseph Lambert will retire June 27th – but his work toward racial equity in the judicial system will continue. Lambert attended his final meeting of the Jefferson County Commission on Racial Fairness as Chief Justice today.The Commission was created by Lambert in 2001 to look into complaints from the community claiming racial disparities in the judicial system. Kentucky Chief Justice-Elect John Minton, Jr. is committed to moving forward with the commission."We certainly will use the work that’s been done here so far to se4rve as a foundation for further work in the future. For my part, I fully intend to continue the work and support the work of the Fairness Commission," he said.Louisville Court of Appeals Judge Denise Clayton chairs the commission.
