New Housing Director Starts June 1

Louisville's new housing director will start work next week.David Howard will be the full time director of the Metro Housing Department He's replacing Kimberly Bunton who resigned last year. Shortly after her departure a State Auditor's report found what it called gross mismanagement of the authority under Bunton.Mayor's spokesperson Chris Poynter says Howard's history as a banker makes him an ideal candidate to run the department as federal dollars begin to come to Louisville."He has run an investment portfolio of $160 million for National City Bank. He certainly understands the importance of accuracy and transparency and making sure the investments pay off," says Poynter. "We're getting a lot of stimulus money to purchase homes that have been foreclosed upon and to rehab those homes and get them into hands of people who will take care of them and property owners."The Housing Department is currently being managed by interim director Bob French.
