New Recycling Center Operational at E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer

A new un-manned recycling drop-off site is in operation in Louisville, bringing the number of such sites to seventeen. These drop-off sites are typically located at fire stations and community centers, but Pete Flood with Solid Waste Management says the new one at E.P. ‘Tom’ Sawyer Park was created at the suggestion of local residents.“A lot of it is through people calling and saying ‘hey, we would like to get one in our area'," says Flood, "and I believe that’s the case for the E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer location.”At the unstaffed drop-off spots, people can recycle paper, glass, metal, and plastic. But Flood says plastic bags are not accepted.
