No Recycling at State Fair

The fair opened on Thursday with thousands of animals to be judged, row after row of educational and tourism exhibits, and dozens of carnival rides.  Fair goers will also find their favorite foods—from funnel cake to corn dogs, from soda pop to lemonade.  But as fair spokeswoman Vicki Glass says, they won’t find anywhere obvious to toss those cans and bottles.“We have recycling bins available in various areas of the fair that employees use.  So if people are interested in recycling they can certainly find an employee that would be able to help them," Glass says.Glass says the Expo Center employees recycle, but she was not able to confirm why no recycling options are being offered to visitors.  Last year more than 580,000 people attended the fair.  This year because of milder temperatures Glass says they’re expecting many thousands more.
