Noise Pollution

Friday, October 17, 2008Noise Pollution

Noise pollution is everywhere from booming stereo systems in cars, to construction sites, to noisy neighbors. It can best be described as a “displeasing human- or machine-created sound that disrupts the activity or balance of human or animal life.” We are bombarded daily with noise but we may not be aware of the effects of such “pollution” on our health. Many cities are drafting tough laws and/or regulations to deal with noise and Louisville has its own noise ordinance. But how is it enforced? And what can you do to cut back on your own noise (or encourage your neighbors to cut back on theirs)? Join us Friday as we take a look at noise pollution and what action is being taken to minimize the effects of our noisy world.
