Norton Hopes To Open New Children's Hospital

Norton Healthcare of Louisville has applied for a permit to build a new children’s treatment facility at its Old Brownsboro Crossing medical complex in northeast Jefferson County.Officials say the $30 million facility would be comparable to Kosair Children’s Hospital, but it would only offer emergency and outpatient services. It would be located adjacent to the Norton Brownsboro Hospital that’s set to open next year.  Hospital President Doug Winkelhake says there’s a great need for pediatric services in the region.“We’ve already had a lot of interest expressed from physicians, some of whom are already providing services at Norton Medical Plaza," he says. "But even from physicians who are in the community, various pediatricians.”Winkelhake expects the permit to be approved by June and the building to be finished one year later.A new children’s treatment facility could be coming to Northeast Jefferson County.
