Norton To Build Pediatric Center

Louisville's Norton Healthcare has broken ground on a new pediatric outpatient centerin northeastern Jefferson County.Company officials say the $50 million facility will help ease crowding at Kosair Children's Hospital downtown, which is part of the Norton Healthcare system.Hospital President Tom Kmetz says the center will serve an expanding population in the area."As you look at the metropolitan Louisville area and the concentration of children,  it seems to be a growing part of our community is out here in the the northeastern part (of Louisville),  and that seems to be where the predominance of our young children are being born. So we think this is a natural extension of caring for that population," Kmetz said. The 71,000 foot pediatric center will be located near the Old Brownsboro Crossing development, where Norton already has a medical plaza and is building a hospital.(Image Courtesy of Norton Healthcare)
