NRA, Club for Growth Blast Lugar in Series of Ads

The National Rifle Association and the Club for Growth have launched a series of radio, television and online ads attacking U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar, R-In, in order to support his Tea Party challenger, Indiana Treasurer Richard Mourdock, in the upcoming Republican primary. For months, the six-term lawmaker has been dogged by residency questions while fending off tea party groups, who have ratcheted up criticism that Lugar is too moderate. The advertisements from the two major conservative groups coincides with early voting in Indiana, which begins today ahead of the May 8 primary. In the 30-second ad, the NRA hits Lugar for receiving an "F" rating from the gun rights group, adding voters have a choice with Mourdock this year."Some things shouldn't change. Our Indiana values. Stewardship of the land. And the protection of our Second Amendment and hunting rights But over 36 years in Washington, Dick Lugar has changed. He's become the only Republican candidate in Indiana with an F rating from the NRA. It's time for another change. Time to elect a senator who will protect our rights," the announce says.Check it out:The Club for Growth criticizes Lugar for backing the "bailouts, tax hikes and Obama's Supreme Court justices" while touting that Mourdock will oppose those ideas.
