NWS Records Warmest June on Record for Louisville

by Stephanie CrosbyLouisvillians experienced the hottest June on record for the city last month, according to records from the National Weather Service.Forecaster Ryan Sharp says the average temperature for June was almost seven degrees above average for the city.He says that trend doesn’t necessarily speak for what the area can expect for the rest of the summer.“The Climate Prediction Center forecast gives us no real clear signal about how much warmer it’s going to be for the next three months," says Sharp. "Right now, they’re giving us an equal chance for having temperatures above normal, below normal, or near normal, so there’s no real clear signal out there as far as how much we’re going to see temperature-wise for the rest of the summer.”Sharp says Louisville also recorded its warmest low temperature on June 21st – summer solstice – at 80 degrees. The previous record was 78 degrees in 1906.
