Occupy Louisville Advises Former Police Chief

Occupy Louisville demonstrators say former Police Chief Robert White has asked them for advice before heading to Denver, Colorado, where demonstrators there have stirred a more contentious occupy movement.White asked Occupy Louisville to write a letter on what he should expect with Occupy Denver a couple weeks ago, said Louisville demonstrator Pam Newman. In the letter to White, Occupy Louisville demonstrators say they have for the most part maintained a good relationship with police. That’s not the same in Denver, where police records show several officers calling demonstrators inappropriate names. The group further requested a restraining order against the department after police were accused of being hostile while enforcing city ordinances. That request was denied.Occupy Louisville reached out to Occupy Denver to ask them what they wanted of White, said Newman. In the letter, Denver demonstrators say they invite White to attend a general assembly, but ask that he come in civilian clothes. It further asks that White review city policies and consider that he will have to earn demonstrators trust by being vigilant.Click here to see a copy of the letter.
