Peden And Tandy Compete For Presidency

Tomorrow’s meeting of the Louisville Metro Council will be led by a new president.The Democratic caucus has chosen Councilman David Tandy as its candidate for the office, while the Republicans have nominated Councilman James Peden.Democrats outnumber Republicans in the council 16 to 10. Peden says if he doesn’t win, he’ll help lead his party.“Well we’d really like to focus on some more openness in government on both the legislative and executive branches," he says. "We’d like to be able to do our legally mandated job from the merger law which is oversee the financial aspects of the city.”Tandy says his top priority is to bring more jobs and other growth to Louisville.Other candidates for president can be nominated before the meeting. The winner will replace outgoing president, Democrat Jim King.
