Pence Drawing Big Out-of-State Money

Gearing up for next year's Indiana gubernatorial election, Republican Congressman Mike Pence receiving heavy financial support from out-of-state contributors. The staunch conservative and Tea Party favorite is seeking the GOP nomination in the May primary against Republican Jim Wallace. Pence is considered the favorite, and the campaign contributions indicate he has an early advantage.According to state records, Pence has collected almost half a million dollars from individuals and political action groups outside of the Hoosier state. From the Indianapolis Star: At the end of June, Pence had more than $1.45 million in his coffers. Of the 1,762 individual donations Pence reported then, 520 came from out-of-state residents, companies or PACs and accounted for more than $184,000. In all, Pence has raised more than $441,000 from out-of-state supporters. Pence's cash haul far outpaces the fundraising of the other three candidates in the race: Republican Jim Wallace, Democrat John Gregg and Libertarian Rupert Boneham.Observers note thatPence is using his national profile to help garner the contributions.
