Plymouth Center May Close

The Plymouth Community Renewal Center in Louisville is facing tough economic times, and could close in the next few weeks. The West Louisville community center has historically received funding from the city, the state and private donors. With the economy in recession, those funding sources have begun to dry up.Center director Markham French says he’s been applying for grants to help keep the facility open.“If we don’t get funding, I’m looking at us having to shut our doors as early as March," says French. "And that was my target – I was looking to see what can we possibly generate by March so that we can make it happen by then.”French says the center needs about 50 thousand dollars to stay open. It serves disadvantaged residents of Louisville’s Russell neighborhood.
