Poll Workers Needed On Election Day

By Sheila AshKentucky officials say they need more people to serve as precinct officers on general Election Day next month. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Les Fugate says poll workers from both major parties are needed in just about every county, including Jefferson. "I know that the Republicans were still looking for precinct election officers last week. I’m not sure whether they’ve hit those numbers, but generally the Jefferson County’s office is always trying to recruit additional people just in case they need to fill some of those roles at the last minute," he said. Each precinct in the state is required to have four election officers. Some of the duties include attending a mandatory training session, processing voters and completing and returning paperwork to the county clerk’s office on election night. Each election officer receives at least 60 dollars for the day plus payment for mileage and training.
