Post Offices Prepare For Smaller Tax Day Crowds

by Gabe BullardThursday is income tax filing deadline day, but post offices in Louisville aren't expecting large last-minute crowds. With the increasing popularity of electronic tax filing, Louisville branches stopped staying open until midnight last year.Three locations will have extended hours, but spokesperson David Walton says no extra employees will be on staff."We can pretty much handle it with the employees we have here," he says. "In the past, I'm sure it was different. I'm sure they did have extra people because from what I'm told, the traffic was just down the street."The St. Matthews Station, Gardiner Lane and Airport branches will be open until 6, 7 and 9 PM, respectively.
