Potential Park Operators Interested In Otter Creek

Louisville Metro Parks' plan to turn over operation of Otter Creek Park to a private entity continues, but officials say the transition will take time.Otter Creek Park in Meade County closed this year because of budget cuts. Last month Louisville officials posted a request for proposals from private entities interested in operating the park for the purpose of public recreation at no expense to the city.Proposals are due on July 27th. After that, parks spokesperson Jason Cissell says it could take time to choose and award the winning bid."If it's a proposal that calls for operating the park much like it was with just some modest changes...that could happen quickly. If it's someone who's proposing something still with public access but significantly different, obviously they would need some time to implement that," he says.Cissell says about 15 potential operators have visited the park since the request for proposals was sent out.
