Power Out At Brown Cancer Center

University of Louisville Health Care officials hope to have power restored to the James Graham Brown Cancer Center Thursday.An overnight construction mishap caused water to leak into steam tunnels underneath the cancer center. The water shorted out underground wires and caused a blackout.U of L Health Care spokesperson David McArthur says it's unlikely the flood caused any long-term damage."There was some minor water damage within the basement of the Brown Cancer Center which may cause us to replace some carpet, things like that," he says. "But we don't believe at this point that equipment was damaged, which is good. So patient care should be able to resume once we get power restored."Patients' appointments at the center have been postponed until power is restored. Urgent treatments are being done at University Hospital.
