P'Pool Launches First TV Ad

Hoping to gain traction in his bid to unseat Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway this fall, Republican attorney general candidate Todd P'Pool will begin airing his first campaign television advertisement Tuesday. The 30-second spot made its YouTube debut Monday and stresses the GOP nominee's faith, support of the coal industry and his work as a Hopkins County prosecutor. It also trumpets key points made during P'Pool stump speeches, including his vehement opposition to President Barack Obama's health care law and regulations by the Environmental Protection Agency."I'm just anxious to get to November so Kentucky can report for duty in the fight against Obamacare when I win this election," P'Pool told WFPL in a telephone interview.Check it out:For months, P’Pool has told supporters that if elected, the commonwealth will join a federal lawsuit against the health care overhaul that 27 other state attorneys general have signed. The Conway campaign has said P'Pool is trying to nationalize the race and highlight an early poll showing the GOP challenger trailing by 26 percentage points. But observers expect P'Pool could see a boost given Conway took a thumping by U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., in last year's election. Republican operatives believe Conway is politically weakened. And the recent ruling by the Atlanta-based 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, which found the individual mandate in the health care law unconstitutional doesn't help the Conway campaign either."That was a great day for liberty, it's encouraging to know that we do have courts that believe Congress should stay within the boundaries of its enumerated powers " says P'Pool. "Unfortunately, Jack Conway and Kentucky sits on the sidelines in this important constitutional battle," he says.UPDATE:The Conway campaign reiterates that P'Pool is neglecting state issues and once again slapped the GOP nominee for accepting contributions from Sullivan University executives, who are currently under investigation by the attorney general's office."It once again shows how Todd P'pool is ignoring issues that are important to Kentucky families.  Jack Conway is focused on making our communities safer by prosecuting child pornographers, prescription drug dealers and taking on special interests who are taking advantage of Kentucky consumers," says Melissa Wideman, Conway campaign manager. "One thing Mr. P'Pool's ad doesn't mention is he's put a for sale sign in front of the Office of the Attorney General.  He should return every cent he's raised from companies that are under investigation."
