Princeton Toyota Plant Prepares for Highlander

The Toyota plant in Princeton, Indiana is in the final stages of preparing its production line for the Highlander SUV. The vehicle is being added to the plant’s production lineup. Already produced there are the Sequoia SUV and the Sienna minivan.Toyota spokesperson Mike Goss says the announcement came a year ago, and a lot of work has been done.“We’ve installed a lot of new tooling and equipment, which is the bulk of the $500-million investment in the facility," says Goss, "and our team members are training to build the Highlander, they’re writing their work processes.”Goss says the first Highlander built for sale will roll out in October. The addition of the SUV further secures the 4,600 jobs at the Princeton plant. It’s also expected to bring 400 new jobs to nearby parts suppliers.
