Public Input Sought On Transit Hub Plan

By Rick HowlettA public meeting will be held Monday to gather comment regarding a planned transit hub in Louisville.Chris Poynter with the mayor's office says this is a chance for residents to offer suggestions on where to locate the facility and what amenities it should include."This would be a place in downtown...that...if you bike to work you could store your bike there, have a bicycle shop, have a coffee shop, you'd be able to rent a car, you'd be able to catch a tarc bus there and get bus passes, so it's multi-faceted," Poynter said.Metro Government has suggested four possible sites for the hub, but says others will be considered. The proposed sites are: Sixth and Market Streets, Fourth and Jefferson Streets, Founders Square, and a lot behind City Hall at Sixth Street and Congress Alley. The hub, with an estimated cost of $1.6 million, will be funded mostly by the U.S. Transportation Department. The meeting begins at 5:00pm at TARC's Union Station headquarters.
