Rand Paul's Brother Considering Senate Bid in Texas

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul's brother Robert Paul is reportedly mulling a bid for the Senate in Texas.Robert and Rand Paul are Texas Congressman and former Presidential candidate Ron Paul's sons. Robert Paul has not yet started raising money, and while his chances may appear slim, his brother's campaign was similarly inauspicious. To compare, try changing the names and locations in this excerpt from Politico:In an interview with the Star-Telegram published Thursday, Robert Paul acknowledged that he is considering a bid but hasn’t decided whether to run. “I am very happy as a physician,” he said.

But, he said, concerns about federal spending could draw him into the race. “[I] have a lot of concern about the debt,” he said. Internet speculation that the younger Texas Paul might run for Senate began spreading soon after Hutchison announced that she would not seek another term. He is set to speak at the University of North Texas next Thursday.

Rand Paul entered the 2010 Senate race in August 2009.But, if three Pauls in Congress seems like a lot, it may take Ron Paul's other three sons entering and winning elections to set a record. This 1902 article from the New York Times tells of "Maine's famous Washburn brothers, four of them representing as many states in Congress, and three of them being members at the same time."
