Red Kettle Campaign Kicks Off, With Much Larger Goal

The Louisville-area Salvation Army has set an ambitious fundraising goal for its holiday Red Kettle Campaign.Last year, the Salvation Army raised $321,000 during the campaign. Area Commander Keith Biggers says this year, the goal is $500,000."It’s not pie in the sky, but it’s a realistic goal that we can raise if everyone gets behind it and puts forth the effort that’s needed for us to accomplish it this year," says Biggers.Biggers says their season total was low last year because of a shortage of volunteer bell ringers. He says volunteers are slow in signing up this year as well, but the goal was raised because more people will need assistance. The Red Kettle Campaign helps families at Christmas and during times of crisis.
