Repairs to Clark Memorial Bridge Start Tonight

by Stephanie CrosbyThe Clark Memorial Bridge will be shut down completely tonight for restriping. After that, traffic on the Kentucky side will be reduced to one lane in each direction for further maintenance.Spokesperson Andrea Clifford with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says they’ve moved up some work that was originally scheduled for next year.“We are going to do repairs to the Kentucky approach, which is basically from Main Street down to River Road where the first pier is, because of all the work that’s going on in the area with the arena project, the streetscape that’s going on on Second Street, we thought it would be good to go ahead and get in and do our work as well," saya Clifford.Crews will update handrails, sidewalks and painting on the Kentucky approach. Clifford says the nearly $2.6-million dollar project should be complete by October first.
