Retailers Wait For Satellite Radio Details

Satellite radio customers are awaiting details on how the Sirius-XM merger will affect service.The new, singular satellite radio company has said it will offer the best of both services to existing customers at a lower subscription price. They’ve also announced plans to develop new sports, news and entertainment packages that subscribers may need new equipment to receive.As customers wait for information on the new services, so do retailers.“Our folks here are in contact with the folks from the newly merged company and will be working with them very closely to determine what needs to happen to make sure that our customers, who are also their customers, get the service and the questions answered that they need," says Best Buy spokesperson Emily Schroeder.The merged company is called Sirius XM Satellite Radio and has an estimated 18.5 million customers. The Federal Communications Commission approved the merger last week.
