Review Of 3 House Races Does Not Change Election Results

A recanvassing of election results in three Kentucky House districts did not change the outcome of the elections.

Two Republicans and one Democrat had asked Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes for the recanvassing, which is a review of totals from electronic voting machines. County boards of elections met Thursday morning to review the results. Grimes said in a news release the results did not change.

Democratic state Rep. Linda Belcher had asked for a recanvass in the 39th district after losing to Republican Dan Johnson by 156 votes out of more than 18,500 that were cast. Republicans Denny Butler in the 38th district and Chad Shannon in the 87th district also requested reviews.

Grimes said the state Board of Elections will meet Tuesday to certify the results.
