School Buses Hit the Road for Test Runs

School buses will be on the roads tomorrow and Wednesday for the Jefferson County Public School District’s annual test runs in advance of the upcoming school year. JCPS Transportation Director Rick Caple says over those two days, all drivers will practice their routes, and some will report back with tweaks that need to be made.“They’ll give us some feedback," says Caple. "Maybe a stop in a particular area they don’t like because it could be an issue with dogs or there could be a pit bull out there we don’t know, or it could be something about the bus stop that looks good on paper, good in logic, but maybe something has changed since we looked at that stop in June.”Caple says they’ll practice throughout the day tomorrow (Tuesday), and conduct real-time tests on Wednesday. After that, he says changes will still pour in up to the first day of school.“We’ll still be getting updates from Student Assignment, so there’ll still be some changes in the routes," says Caple. "You’ll also see buses out, because we’ll continue to practice on some of those changes that have happened.”The first day of school is August 13th.
