School H1N1 Clinics Start Today

A massive vaccination effort is underway today in Louisville schools. The Louisville Metro Department for Public Health and Wellness will hold ten school clinics per day for the next three weeks.Director Dr. Adewale Troutman says the department will provide H1N1 vaccine to students and staff members at 150 Louisville public, parochial and private schools through December 18th.Officials don’t have an estimate on how many people will want the vaccine, but Troutman says he’s sure they’ll have enough doses.“If the allocation of vaccine supply unexpectedly slows during the school immunization campaign, there is a possibility that we may have to temporarily slow the H1N1 school immunization schedule until we get more vaccine, but let me point out: we do not expect this to happen," says Troutman.Norton Healthcare is donating 25 nurses and ten support staff members each day of the clinics, to help with distribution.
