Sen. Rand Paul Exploring White House Bid

Newly elected U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky is exploring a possible presidential bid.    The Republican eye doctor from Bowling Green defeated Democrat Jack Conway in the November general election, running for Senate as part of the Tea Party movement.       Paul is visiting some of the early presidential primary states to test the waters for a possible bid in 2012.He told the Post and Courier in Charleston, South Carolina this week that he’s decided only that he would not run against his father, Texas Congressman Ron Paul, who’s thinking about seeking the nomination again in 2012. The elder Paul ran for president in 2008.Sen. Rand Paul also has trips planned to New Hampshire and Iowa, saying he wants the Tea Party to have an influence over who the GOP nominee is in 2012.(File photo by Sheila Ash)
