Seum Won't Run For Mayor

A politician with strong support in Louisville's south end has decided not to run for metro mayor.State Senator Dan Seum's supporters recently held a rally encouraging the Republican to run for mayor. He announced Thursday that he will not seek the position, and will instead focus on winning another term in the Senate, where he's chair of the Republican Caucus.Seum says Metro Councilman Doug Hawkins and former Lieutenant Governor Steve Pence are both considering mayoral bids, and he will likely stay out of the process."I'm going to probably try to be helpful to whoever the Republican nominee is, but if there's a Republican primary I probably won't endorse," he says. "I'll have my own race to run and the wisdom usually is, stick to your own race."Seum predicts a Republican candidate will step forward shortly after Labor Day.
