Sixth Democrat Enters Mayor's Race

A sixth Democrat has entered the Louisville mayor's race.Highlands resident Shannon White filed paperwork Wednesday to run in her party's primary in May. White is the founder of the Kentucky chapter of Dress for Success, a group that helps women prepare to enter the job market. She's also finance director for Congressman John Yarmuth, though she's not expecting an endorsement from him in the primary.White says her next move in the election will be to build a campaign staff."I have great volunteers so far. I have a finance person and people to come in and help me with press and getting the word out," she says. "It'll be a close-knit group of family and friends."White says she'll start raising money soon, too, but she's not sure how much she needs to finance her campaign."People have said that I need to raise over a million dollars," she says. "I don't know if I'll be able to do that. I'm going to work as hard as I can to do that, but I don't know that right now, at this moment, if I have a specific dollar amount in mind."White will face Metro Councilmen David Tandy and Jim King, businessmen Greg Fischer and Tyler Allen and activist Connie Marshall in the primary. Two Republicans and two independents are also running.
