SNAP Group Starts in Louisville

A Louisville chapter of a national organization for people who’ve been sexually abused by clergy has started. The second meeting of the support group is tomorrow. The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests – or SNAP – started in 1989.Louisville SNAP Leader Colleen Powell says meeting people with the same experience is often helpful.“It’s a small group opportunity to tell our stories, be listened to, believed, and decide what we want to do with those feelings," says Powell.Tthree people were at their first meeting, but they’ve had communication with a few others who want to join the group.Powell says there are many other sexual abuse support groups in Louisville, but none specifically catered to those abused by clergy.
