Spalding To Host Rubbertown Panel

Spalding University will host a panel discussion about industry and pollution in Louisville’s Rubbertown neighborhood. The neighborhood contains several plastics and chemical manufacturers and the panel will focus on how emissions from those plants affect the health of area residents.Panelist Eboni Cochran is a member of Rubbertown Emergency ACTion, a grassroots organization that focuses on the health of those living near the factories. She says she hopes to further the cause of Rubbertown residents.“Some of the short-term goals of course would be to reduce the amount of emissions that are coming out now, but ultimately you want to go to using safer chemicals and ultimately not locating factories where people are or not having people being forced to live in areas where there are factories," she says. The discussion is February 12th on the Spalding campus.
