St. Vincent de Paul, Other Groups Hosting Holiday Meal

By Sheila Ash A free Thanksgiving dinner will be served at Louisville’s shelters and other charitable organizations. St. Vincent de Paul will provide a traditional Thanksgiving meal complete with turkey, ham and all the trimmings. The meal will be served at noon and is open to the public.Spokesperson Linda Romine says people will be served in the Open Hand Kitchen."It’s a great family atmosphere. We’ll get parents and grandparents bringing their children in and we’ll have entire families sitting together and enjoying Thanksgiving meal together here in our kitchen." We have beautiful stained glass windows it’s in an old sanctuary is where our kitchen is located. So it’s just a very welcoming, cheerful atmosphere. And we hope to make it a happy day,"Romine says in addition to an array of social services including homeless shelters, St. Vincent de Paul serves two free meals a day throughout the year to anyone in need. It’s located at 1026 S. Jackson Street.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
