State Airplanes Sold

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear says two state airplanes placed for auction on eBay have been sold.

Two weeks ago, when Beshear announced the administration was putting the planes up for auction, he said they were in excellent mechanical condition and should sell quickly.“I’m confident we can do without these planes, while making a little money and saving the more than $63,000 a year it costs to maintain and insure these two aircraft," he says.Beshear is now reporting the auction brought in just over $231,000 for the state’s General Fund. The 1975 Piper Navajo sold for a little more than $190,000 and the state received over $41,000 for the 1967 Cessna Skyhawk. Both sale prices exceeded the expectations of the state’s Department of Aviation.
